Vibroacoustic Therapy
Low tones through the table beneath you, crystal singing bowls on and around you, one resonant field. In my studio in Cotati, Sonoma County.
The Work
What vibroacoustic therapy is
This session lives inside Capacity for Self VibroEnergetics™, the energetic pillar of my Capacity for Self Method™. If you searched for vibroacoustic therapy, you are in the right place. This is the same low-frequency table work, held inside a larger field of sound, breath and touch.
You lie on a table with low-frequency speakers built into it, so sound reaches you as vibration through whatever part of you is resting on it, and travels through your whole body. Crystal singing bowls sound close around you and may rest right on your body. My hands and your breath are part of the same field. Gongs are often a session of their own, and sometimes I bring them into this one too.
This is not a sound bath with a vibrating table added, and it is not three sessions stacked into one. The table, the bowls, my hands and your breath are one resonant field, reaching you at different frequencies at the same time. Some of it you feel. Some of it you hear.
In My Words
“It is a deeply grounding experience, but not the kind of grounding you imagine when you meditate. It feels as if you are being pulled both into the Earth's core and connected to the galaxy at the same time. It is the kind of vibration that touches every molecule in your body, at such a fine level that it gets through all the cracks that human connection alone cannot reach.”
The Experience
Grounding that goes both ways
Most people picture grounding the way meditation teaches it: settling, getting heavy, sending roots into the floor. On the table the pull runs both ways at once, down toward the center of the Earth and out toward something far larger than you.
The table's low tones come up from underneath you, and you feel them more than you hear them. When a bowl rests on you, its tone goes straight into the tissue underneath. A bowl above your head rings out into the room, and its overtones keep opening the space around you. When gongs are part of the session, that opening goes further still.
What I see on the table is simpler. Places that have been bracing find nothing to brace against. A vibration does not argue with you. It can reach places that words and touch alone do not, and human connection is still the ground this work stands on.

On the Table
What a session with me is like
Sessions are 90 minutes, in my studio in Cotati. Every studio session begins with a conversation about what you are carrying and what your body needs.
- From below. The table's low tones begin underneath you, and your body sets the pace.
- On and around you. A session may begin face down, with a crystal singing bowl resting on your lower back, another behind your knees and a third on a stool above your head, each tuned to a harmonic note in the same or a complementary key.
- Sometimes, gongs. Gongs are often a session of their own. When they join a table session, they fill the air above you.
- Through you. I guide you into a continuous, flowing breath, the same breath at the heart of Capacity for Self Breathwork™. It opens space in the tissue that vibration can then move into.
- Hands. My hands come in where they are needed. If your body begins to move on its own, I steady the bowls so you never have to manage them.
All of it sounds at once, and the session follows your body rather than a script. You may turn over, face up, partway through. At the end there is time to come back slowly, at your own pace.
You can talk, stay quiet, ask me to change anything or stop at any point. Some people fall asleep. There is no right way to do it.
If you would like a longer walk through it, I wrote about what it actually feels like on the table.
Who Comes
Who this session is for
People usually find their way to the table when something has stopped moving. Vitality that has gone flat. A tiredness that sleep and time off do not touch. A body that stays braced even when life is calm.
Some have done years of inner work and can feel themselves at a plateau. Some have talked about what they carry for as long as talking helps. Some are drawn to sound and want to feel it through the body, not only hear it.
If you are skeptical, you are welcome. Nothing here asks you to believe anything. The table only asks you to lie down and notice.
I do not diagnose, treat or cure any condition, and I am glad to work alongside your doctor and your other care rather than instead of it.

In my studio in Cotati, Sonoma County
Table sessions happen in my studio in Cotati, California, between Rohnert Park and Petaluma, with Santa Rosa a short drive north. You can see the space on the studio session page.
The Method
Part of Capacity for Self VibroEnergetics™
In my practice, sound, vibration and energy are one continuum. Capacity for Self VibroEnergetics works with that whole continuum as a single field, and the table carries it lower, into tones you feel more than hear. It belongs to the Capacity for Self Method, which meets body, mind and spirit as one living system.
I am an integrative somatic practitioner, coach, and bodyworker. I do not move energy for you. I create conditions. The intelligence of your own system is more sophisticated than any map I could impose on it.
Questions
Questions people ask
The table's tones are low and slow, and you feel them more than you hear them. The bowls are clear rather than loud. If gongs are part of your session, they can grow full. I keep earplugs on hand if you would like them. If you are sensitive to sound, tell me on the free video call, and if anything feels like too much, say so and it changes.
Something loose and comfortable, in layers, because body temperature can shift once you genuinely settle.
The table does not rely on hearing. Its low tones come up through you as vibration, so it meets you differently from a sound bath on a mat. I cannot promise what you will notice. Whatever you notice, including very little, is information.
A sound bath happens on mats, for one person or a group, with the bowls a short distance away. This is one-on-one, on the table, with the low tones coming up through your body and bowls close enough to feel. The mat version is on the sound baths page.
A table session is booked as a 90-minute studio session, at $220.
Not always. Tell me on the free video call if you have a pacemaker or another implanted electronic device, are pregnant or have had recent surgery or an injury that has not healed. The same goes for a history of blood clots or seizures, very low blood pressure or a strong sensitivity to sound or vibration. We may adapt the session or choose a different one. Where it makes sense, check with your doctor first.
Some, and it is young. The experience people report most often on a vibroacoustic table is a state of deep relaxation (Punkanen and Ala-Ruona, 2012). The science is in early stages. The clinical observation is consistent.
It is not a big decision. If you do not like how the table feels, I can turn the intensity or the volume down, or turn the table off altogether, and we carry on with the rest of the session. If you would like to talk it through first, the free 15-minute video call is there for that.
The Tables
I build the tables, too
I also build and sell vibroacoustic tables. If you are curious about having one of your own, the tables page is the place to start, or you are welcome to send me a message.
