THE BODY IS THE SUBCONSCIOUS MIND
The mind and body are deeply interconnected, yet modern western medicine often treats them as separate. Suppressed stress and unresolved trauma manifest as physical imbalances, just as physical injuries can trigger emotional/spiritual distress. It’s all connected.
Early in my journey, I set out to become a licensed psychotherapist. However, I quickly realized that traditional therapy operates within many constraints, often focusing primarily on the mind and separating it from the body. This institutionalized division between these two aspects of our being led me to seek an alternative path—one that embraces the whole person, inside and out. My goal is to bridge this gap, helping people heal, evolve, and navigate life with greater reliance on intuition rather than just the logical mind.
If you are working with a psychiatrist, psychotherapist, counselor, or marriage and family therapist, my work can complement theirs, supporting you in breaking through subconscious holding patterns in new and profound ways. I am also happy to collaborate with them if you’d like.
SUGGESTIVE TOUCH VS FORCEFUL TOUCH
When touch is involved during a session with me, it is not considered massage. There’s no need to remove clothing, and no oils or lotions are used. The pressure applied is light and non-forceful. Many people, after years of receiving deep pressure in areas of tension, become accustomed to this intensity—despite it not always promoting true healing. In reality, the body knows what it needs; it simply asks for gentleness, safety, trust, and patience to begin releasing. As the practitioner, I create a sacred space where your mind and body feel safe enough to let go and be vulnerable. In this vulnerability, the mind steps aside, allowing the body to follow its own wisdom rather than being guided toward a prescribed outcome.
BUILDING TRUST, FEELING SAFE, LETTING GO
Think of your body as a vehicle you drive around. When you take your car to the mechanic, do you stay in the driver’s seat while it’s being worked on?
When you come to see me, we work towards helping your mind let go of your body’s steering wheel, allowing it to unwind naturally. Together, we observe what arises with non-judgmental curiosity, compassion, and a willingness to surrender to what is.
Just let go.
This release of control requires a lot of trust. It is always my intention to create and maintain a safe and peaceful space that allows you to fully experience this process.
WHAT HAPPENS IF WE DON’T LET GO?
Holding on to what no longer serves our health and well-being, both literally and metaphorically, makes us unwell.
Many people begin their journey by seeking help from a traditional Western doctor. After numerous tests, they’re often told nothing is wrong. As months or years pass and symptoms worsen, they return, only to be referred to specialists. These specialists may diagnose them with an ‘untreatable’ illness, prescribing medications or surgeries that only manage symptoms while the underlying condition deepens. By the time many people find me, they’ve reached a point of hopelessness and desperation, often several years after their initial suffering began.
Are all these conditions and diagnoses reversible? Usually, but not always. Regardless, your quality of life can dramatically improve when you release the undiagnosable injuries, traumas, emotions, and past experiences you’ve subconsciously held on to for so long. I can help you access the state of being needed to let go on multiple levels—physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.
If my approach interests you, I would be honored to work with you. The poem below is one of my favorites. It speaks directly to the nature of my work.
THE GUEST HOUSE
This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they are a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice.
meet them at the door laughing and invite them in.
Be grateful for whatever comes.
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.
