Reiki in Sonoma County: What It Taught Me and Where It Shows Up in a Session
I want to start with the credential, because it is the thing people ask for first, and then I want to spend the rest of this page explaining why it is the least interesting part of the work. I practice in Cotati, in Sonoma County, California, and Reiki is part of what happens on my table without ever being the whole of it.
Seventh Generation, Usui-Takata
I am a 7th-Generation Usui-Takata Reiki Master and Teacher of the Usui Method of Natural Healing.
Seventh generation is a statement about a line, not about me. The Usui-Takata name describes the line the practice came down: Mikao Usui, then Chujiro Hayashi, then Hawayo Takata, then the teachers who followed. Nothing about that lineage makes me special. The rest of my training came later and from other rooms.
I mention it for one reason. Reiki was my first education in the energy body, the field of subtle energy that permeates and surrounds the physical form. Every tradition I have studied since recognizes that field and calls it something different. Some call it Qi. Some call it Prana. Some say biofield, some say life force. The language varies. The territory is the same.
What Reiki Taught Me
Here is the piece of that training I still use in every session, and I have had more than eight thousand of them now.
The practitioner's role is not to generate energy and push it into the client. The practitioner's role is to create conditions under which the client's own system remembers how to move itself.
That sounds like a small technical distinction. It is not. It is the difference between doing something to a person and sitting with one. If I come to your body believing that I hold the good energy and you hold the stuck energy, I have just made myself the authority on your interior. Your nervous system can feel that arrangement, and it does what it always does when it is being managed. It guards. If I come with quiet hands and no agenda, something else is available. Your system sets the pace.
Jin Shin Acupressure, which I learned later, deepened the same principle. Jin Shin works through simultaneous two-point contact: you engage two energy centers at once and hold both ends of a pathway. You are not moving anything from A to B. You are holding the circuit open and letting the system remember the connection on its own.
That is facilitation rather than direction, and it is the ground Capacity for Self VibroEnergetics was eventually built on.
Why There Is No Reiki Session on My Booking Page
If you came here to book an hour of Reiki, I would rather be straight with you than sell you something adjacent.
I do not offer Reiki as a standalone service. It is one of three lineages inside Capacity for Self VibroEnergetics, the energetic pillar of my work, alongside Jin Shin Acupressure and sound healing. In a session they are not performed in sequence like courses at a dinner. They are one thing: hands, vibration, and presence, in a single field.
So the honest answer to "do you do Reiki" is yes, it is part of the energetic work I do, and it does not get its own hour on the calendar. Separating it back out would make the work smaller, not clearer.
What a Reiki Session Looks Like Here in Sonoma County
A session often begins with my hands resting lightly on or near your body, doing very little that looks like anything. I am reading. Temperature, density, breath, where the tissue is guarding and where it is already willing.
Then the sound enters. Crystal singing bowls produce a sustained, immersive tone that does not only arrive through the ears. The human body is roughly sixty percent water, and water conducts vibration well, so you feel a bowl in your cells rather than only hearing it. Gongs produce layered overtones that shift and evolve while the instrument sustains, and they tend to reach patterns that a single clean tone cannot. Tuning forks do the opposite job: one exact frequency, offered to one specific place.
My hands stay in it the whole time, reading and responding. Where energy is stagnant, the combination of vibration and touch invites movement. Where it is scattered, the field helps it gather.
What clients report varies, and I would rather quote them than promise you anything. Waves of warmth or tingling moving through the body. A sense of internal spaciousness opening. Emotional movement that arrives without a clear cognitive trigger. Deep stillness interrupted by spontaneous small movements as the body unwinds.
What I Am Not Going to Tell You
I am not going to tell you that Reiki fixes things. I do not diagnose, treat, or cure anything. I work with the person living with whatever they are living with, and I often work right alongside their medical team. I just work differently.
I am also not going to ask you to believe in a field you cannot see. If you arrived at this page a little skeptical, you are welcome exactly as you are. Skepticism is not a problem to be solved before we begin. It is intelligence doing its job. You are allowed to lie on the table, notice what you notice, and draw your own conclusions afterward.
Your body already knows what it needs. My job is to hold conditions steady enough that it can say so.
Where to Start
There is no rush on any of this, and I would be glad to look at it with you when you are ready.
This work is somatic education and complementary care. Read the full scope of practice.
Sessions happen in the studio in Cotati, in Sonoma County, California, or mobile to your location. I travel regularly to Petaluma, Sebastopol, Santa Rosa, Sonoma, San Rafael, Mill Valley and Sausalito, and further when the trip calls for it. Group sound healing events run separately. A complimentary phone consultation is where we find out together whether this is the right fit, with no commitment either way. You can book a session or send me a message.
