PTSD & Trauma

Somatic Support for Clients Living with PTSD & Trauma

Trauma is not just a memory. It is an experience that lives in the body, in the tightness of your shoulders, the holding in your belly, the way your breath catches when something triggers a response you cannot control.

Talk therapy, EMDR, and other approaches each address important dimensions. Somatic bodywork supports the body's dimension, which often responds to direct, gentle touch and presence. It is still bracing, still waiting, still stuck in the moment it could not escape.

How I Work With This

Everyone arrives at this work differently. For some, they have done extensive cognitive processing, they understand their trauma intellectually, but their body is still holding on and needs help letting go. For others, they went through something that locked their nervous system into fight, flight, or freeze, and they need help regulating themselves back to calm.

Through the Capacity for Self Method™, I work with both:

  • Supporting nervous system settling: When the body enters fight or flight and cannot complete the action (running, defending, escaping), that energy stays trapped. Somatic bodywork supports your body's natural capacity to settle and find ease, through gentle tremoring, breathwork, and tissue release.
  • Rebuilding safety: Trauma teaches the body that the world is not safe. cranial sacral work and gentle holding create a new experience of safety, not through words, but through felt experience.
  • Building inner connection: We support a relationship between protective and vulnerable parts, creating conditions for the grounded Self to lead.

What to Expect

I work at your pace. There is no forcing, no re-traumatizing, and no requirement to tell me your story. Your body will share what it is ready to share.

Sessions are gentle. You remain fully clothed for parts work and breathwork components. Hands-on work is always with your consent and comfort. Many clients find that what they could not process through talking begins to shift when approached through the body.

Growth after difficult experiences is not about forgetting what happened. It is about building enough capacity that your system is no longer run by it.
