Fifteen minutes from Santa Rosa, and quiet the moment you walk in

Somatic bodywork and coaching at my Cotati studio, a short drive down Highway 101.

Santa Rosa has no shortage of places to book bodywork. The people who drive fifteen minutes down Highway 101 to see me are usually looking for something more specific.

They want one practitioner who can work with the body, the nervous system and the story underneath both, in a room that actually helps them let go. That combination is what I built my practice around, and it is why the short trip from Santa Rosa is worth it.

A short drive that changes the afternoon

Fifteen minutes is long enough to leave the day's noise behind and short enough that a session does not swallow an afternoon. Many people from Santa Rosa book a late morning or an early evening, with nothing scheduled afterward.

I would encourage that. Leaving a little room after a session is a kindness to yourself, and a quiet drive home is a good place to take it.

What the work is

My practice rests on a simple idea: your body keeps track of what your mind has already moved on from. I combine hands-on bodywork with somatic coaching, so we can work with what you feel in your muscles and breath and also with what you are living through right now.

I have worked this way since 2003. The full name for it is the Capacity for Self Method™.

Spacious, quiet, and all one room

Look at the photo and you will see what I mean. It is a long room with vaulted ceilings, wood floors and large artwork, tall teal curtains behind two armchairs, a table in the middle, and singing bowls and gongs waiting at the far end.

It is one cohesive space, designed on purpose, not a converted closet that shares a wall with the next appointment. My hope is that the room does some of the work before we have said a word.

The whole Cotati studio as one room: a table on a patterned rug, two armchairs under teal curtains, crystal singing bowls and gongs, and paintings on both walls, under a high beamed ceiling.

What brings people from Santa Rosa

The reasons run from physical to emotional to spiritual, and they often overlap. A body that carries old tension. A stretch of life that has asked a lot of you. A sense that something in you wants more room.

You do not have to be able to name it. Learning to settle your nervous system, and then to stay present once it has, sits underneath nearly all of it, and it is useful for everyone.
